If a picture is worth a thousand words and every second of video is 30 pictures then your 60 second video is worth 1.8 million words.

Here’s more proof that using video should be a key part of any social media marketing strategy.  The following exchange is real. It appeared on Tandem Properties Facebook fan page. We produced a series of videos for each apartment complex that Tandem operates to generate exposure and interest. In this case it worked for Adobe at Evergreen!

Paige C.: I found your video on YouTube, it looks like a really great place to live. I’m going to be a new student this July. But I need to find a roommate, and I was wondering if you knew anyone in need of a roommate. Your reply will be deeply appreciated.

Adobe at Evergreen Apartments: Hey Paige! YES! We have a roommate program which would be perfect for you! I’m going to shoot you a message with some more details…

And as a direct result, another 12-month lease contract was signed.

YouTube tips:

Make sure you create a YouTube channel for your videos, and tag them with relevant descriptive phrases for the best chance of getting picked up by search engines. Also, the shorter the video, the better chance it will hold your viewer’s interest.

In general, videos are a much better way to show your story than plain old text. Everybody watches stuff on YouTube.
